As most any parent today knows, Mo Willems books are awesome. Great for beginning readers to practice their new found skills and great stories that parents won't tire of reading​ or hearing over and over again.This five book collection is an amazing deal ($11 as of this review) and is one thick book. Hardback book with thick, heavy pages that will hold up under a lot of use. Equal in thickness to three hardback single story books and all the original content of each story (including the inside cover pages (where we find the not-so-hidden pigeon)While this is a great value and great stories, the books overall thickness may be hard for small hands to manage.

I LOVE elephant and piggie books and have bought nearly all for my nieces. I got the bundle for a friend but it's not the same as the individual ones, it's a big book that feels like you are reading a novel, not an easy to carry around kids book. Will get wrecked easily I think, a box set would have been better. LOVE the stories don't like the format.

My five-year-old twins started school this past fall and we've been introduced to a number of new books that we hadn't heard before. I hadn't heard of Mo Willems before they went to school (Why? I don't know.) but now we have built quite a collection of his books. I saw this book in a bookstore about a month ago and figured it would be a great addition to our collection since we didn't have any of the books. I ended up ordering it from here since it was a much better price.An Elephant & Piggie Biggie! is a compilation of five stories written by wonderful and hilarious children's author, Mo Willems. The stories are funny, include lovable characters, and teach valuable lessons in a gentle way that kids really enjoy. The stories included in this book are : Today I Will Fly!, Watch Me Throw the Ball, Can I Play Too?, Let's Go for a Drive!, and I Really Like Slop! This is a hardcover book with the paperback pages and it's the same as the individual stories, just five times as big! There are 309 total pages and each story is roughly 57 pages. There are a lot of pages but each page generally has one or two sentences.My kids were so excited when this arrived in the mail! Elephant & Piggie are always popular in our house and my kids will stop what they are doing when I pull out these stories. I love the funny stories and drawings and I look forward to reading them to my kids. These are popular in classrooms because of the gentle lessons they teach and they hold active kids' attention! We are building our collection of these books and this book took care of several of them. It's a thicker book so it's harder to hold but I feel the value is worth it.This book would make a wonderful gift for boys and girls in the preschool to elementary age range primarily but I'm sure other kids would enjoy them as well. I highly recommend stories by Mo Willems and this book is a wonderful addition to our collection!

What a fantastic deal! My daughter loves the elephant and piggie stories and this is one thick, hard-backed book! I could not believe the price amazon was asking for it. She will get hours of enjoyment out of these stories.

My kindergartener who hates reading on his own always loved the pigeon books by mo willems and right away he sat down with this to read story after story by himself. Love it. I need to get more collections in one book like this because my kid hates reading time and would rather read one short book over and over again until the alotted time is up, as much as I tell him to have other books ready for when he finishes one. It's very easy reading, not much words on each page. He found it very funny and finished all the stories pretty quickly. It might not be very challenging for him but the more they read, the better their fluency.

This is simply wonderful! It's great to be able to get five of Gerald and Piggie books for a low price. To boot, image and physical page qualities are excellent. In fact, the image quality seems to have improved over the original books.I really hope Willems and publishers will do the same thing for the rest of the collection. We can't see us buying the whole collection individual books, but in this format we'll buy them all!

LOVE Elephant and Piggie!Probably the most requested book by my 3 year old. Stories are simple, just a couple of words of dialog per page that always result in a sweet story about friendship. Stories are simple enough that my daughter has almost all the words memorized and I can hear her "reading" them to herself in bed. Only reason for the reduction of one star is because each story is quiet a few pages and once you jam 5 stories into a hard cover book it is a little cumbersome to hold, but it's totally worth it for a nice collection of Elephant and Piggie

Both my girls are part of special education pre-K program, but progressing really nicely. I was so pleasantly surprised when they just opened this book and started reading it, and did that with intonation, really going into characters!I guess we will be starting a collection!This specific book is a great value, at $12 for 5 stories. It's a large book but my girls had no issues holding/reading it. Very good quality of paper/pages/pictures.

About the Author

Rosetta S. Elkin is Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design and an Associate at Harvard Arnold Arboretum. Her teaching and research focus on an expanded consideration of plant life. The work derives from a conviction that plants can reestablish a central position in a landscape architectural discourse. In her role as Area Head of Master in Design Studies in Risk and Resilience, her research explores the gap between natural and social sciences found in the biological complexity of global greening projects. The research examines the methods and means of planting through spatial and theoretical frameworks. Other research projects include the study of root systems in coastal defense strategies, state-scale ecological transformation in Rhode Island, and sea-level adaptation on barrier islands in Florida. Elkin consults and maintains a design practice that is firmly rooted in fieldwork and material agency. Teaching includes core studio sequence in landscape, research seminars, ecology and planting design. She was previously the Daniel Urban Kiley Fellow at GSD in 2012-13 and also served as faculty editor for Platform 6 (Actar). Elkin was recently awarded the 2018 American Academy Rome Prize in landscape architecture.

Decent supplemental book to go with a Managerial Accounting course. Used it alongside John J. Wild's "Financial and Managerial Accounting" 7th edition to get through graduate level accounting. This book is very concise; it will not answer all your questions nor will it replace your textbook.

I had struggled through Managerial Accounting and just wasn't getting it. I bought this book, and it finally clicked! I'd recommend this book to anyone who needs to pass a class or just needs this knowledge for work.

This is a groundbreaking book in the debate over political decision-makers’ use of historical analogies. Khong’s thesis states that policymakers do not merely use convenient historical analogies to justify their actions but perform specific cognitive and information processing tasks using the most vivid analogies without even realizing it. The book’s focus is on the Johnson administration’s decision to intervene in Vietnam using analogies from Munich, Korea, and Dien Bien Phu as historical guides.Khong asserts that the decision to intervene in Vietnam was the inevitable outgrowth of the assumptions of the day: containment, the domino theory, etc., and therefor was not a hypocritical use of analogies to justify aggression. Policymakers, like all humans transform selected aspects of historical events into schema which influences all decisions. Because it is subconscious, historical events are seldom probed for accuracy. In my own research, I see analogies to Neville Chamberlain’s disastrous pact with Hitler in Munich, 1938 used to justify all kinds of actions.This work is very useful and should be thoroughly internalized by decision-makers and those who work for them. In its framework, it is more “explicitly psychological” than other similar works. I assess Khong’s work to be “analogous” (no pun intended) to the lessons of the Iraq War, fought years after this book’s publication. For now, at least, the result of the Iraq War, like Vietnam, is so bereft of consensus that no clear-cut analogies can be made.

Khong clearly and succinctly details the role of lessons from history, especially the 1930s, in the decision to escalate the war in Vietnam. His analysis is thorough, relying on archival research. In approach, it is similar to my Rolling the Iron Dice, which analyzes the use of historical analogies by British and American decision makers during four crises in the 1950s: Korea, Iran (1951-3), Suez and Lebanon-Jordan (1958). This book is not simply for therapists. For those who have suffered severe trauma in childhood and who have been diagnosed with Complex PTSD and dissociative disorders in later years, this work can help them understand their complicated and often frightening world. Among other themes, it allows patients to gain an insight into the often challenging therapeutic relationship which must be established and maintained in order to heal, as well as the three main stages of treatment. Chapter 8 was especially useful, with hands-on strategies for controlling posttraumatic and dissociative symptoms. Although some may find the language and concepts demanding at times, I would still thoroughly recommend it.

While I am not a professional therapist, as a minister I meet many people whose lives have been horribly harmed by unspeakable childhood physical and sexual abuse. Dr. Chu's book is the best I have read on this subject. In additional to explaining the psychological theories of how this kind of trauma wounds people and disables their ability to sustain relationships, he includes very practical suggestions for helping survivors that are dealing with disassociative symptoms including flashbacks and nightmares. I am on my second reading and taking notes this time.

This book should be required reading for anyone working with traumatized clients. No matter your level of experience, you will learn something new and useful from this book. I have read a lot in this area, and this is above and beyond. It was recommended in an online course for diagnosing and treating dissociative disorders as absolutely essential. If you can only afford one, this is the one.

What a treat to get a headlines review of the research as well as some valuable tips for working with survivors, and in such a readable form. Dr. Chu has gifted us all by passing along his 30+ years of experience.

I highly recommend this book for anyone dealing with CPTSD personally or with someone they love. It's chock full of insights and tips and hope.

I found this book to be well written and informative. The clinical vignettes were very helpful in elucidating teaching points. I would recommend this for anyone, either clinician or patient who was interested in learning more about dissociative disorders.

I found it easy to read and very informative to my practice and study. I would gladly read more of his stuff

This is probably a better book for practitioners than for clients.
