I have read several books related to WWII nursing history. This was one of the most original stories I have come across. Well Written and very much worth the read. Not one of the Vets that I spoke with from this era had ever heard of this story. It was a great bit of little known history.

This was an amazing story of survival, friendship. perserverance, compassion, and patriotism. The Albanian farmers, families, and rebels (against the Nazi invasion) were the heroes of this detailed account of survival behind enemy lines.

An engrossing WWII survival story.

Having been to Albania 6 times and being familiar with the people and the places mentioned, this was especially interesting. Even without that past experience, it would still be an interesting read.

Very interesting true story of survival during WW II. The conditions described in rural Albania and the need to trust strangers in a foreign land led to a great, compelling book.

I found this book to be a simplistic and a stilted recount of events that were harrowing and full of emotion. However, the emotion is lost in this droll, objective recitation.

For those who do not have a U.S. company, there is still a lot to gain from this book; you might be doing business with a U.S. company and bound by many regulations or, in any case, a lot of regulations can exist in your home country and be in a similar form. Increasingly, regulation and enforcement does not operate in the vacuum of domestic boundaries and it can be quite easy to get caught up in another country’s regulations.It is a thoughtful read, covering a wide range of issues from bribery and corruption through to money laundering, market manipulation, trade sanctions and corporate misconduct. Written in a language that a typical business executive can understand, there is no excuse for not getting a comprehensive, quality briefing on this subject, enabling the company in turn to react and change elements of its behaviour or procedure as required.The price of the book means it is going to be out of reach for the general reader, who otherwise would have had the benefit of an enjoyable, informative read, yet for the business reader who needs this sort of stuff the price is irrelevant and it certainly feels as you will get your money’s worth and then some! I own a couple of Dawkins' books: "The God Delusion," "Evolution...," and "The Blind Watchmaker" (the latter is still unread). While he is a fantastic debater and critical thinker in his own right, this book represents an amazing anthology of illustrative scientific writing.I work for a university and find myself writing about faculty's scientific work often. I bought this book and "A Field Guide for Science Writers" at the same time. While the field guide is directly applicable to my vocation, I had a hard time putting down Dawkins' book. It is an amazing collection of intriguing and, at times, exceptionally elegant writing.I have read several of the selected works already and now have several more on my read pile.Another reviewer gave this book lesser ratings because the binding was tight. I agree. If we are talking about the physical production, I would say that part of that is because the pages are sturdy - which is a good thing.The only caveat I would offer is that without the context of the entirety of the selected works, a moderate amount of scientific literacy is necessary to fully appreciate some of the selections. If you enjoy learning and researching the things you don't already understand, even people who aren't well versed in science will appreciate the selections. Everyone should appreciate the prosaic treatment of such complex subjects.If you enjoy science or good writing, this is a must have, IMO.

Its one of those books I will treasure for life.

While l am a fan of this and all of Anton Lavey's books, this one would probably be my least favourite. He goes off on a few rabbit trails and rambles a bit, sometimes to the point that you're not totally sure what he means. Still, there is plenty of knowledge and insight to be taken from Satan Speaks. lt was written when LaVey was an old man close to death, which means you get his final, most complete view of the given topics near the end of his life experience. Cynicism and sarcasm abound, as well as his trademark dark humour.

I've only just cracked it open and by the second essay I was feeling elated! This promises to be some of LaVeys best work. Upon reading "To: All Doomsayers...etc." I found myself getting more and more emotionally charged with each sentence. Nodding vigorously in agreement and say "yes! Yes!" With each statement. By the end I was practically jumping up and down and shouting "YES! HAIL SATAN!" I can't wait to get through the rest of this. So far, it's much better than the Devil's Notebook.

When I read this book, for some reason it makes me think about Anton packing his bags and saying "I'm done here." Especially the first few essays, when he talks about the apocalypse and how it's exactly how Christian America made it to be. I'm not sure exactly what this thought means, being as I don't believe in an afterlife. Perhaps his death was a departure from reality and then his vitality was transformed into our fond memories of him.Mr. La Vey was a very opinionated man and this work reflects that. It's as casual as a book can ever be and is funny too. I especially like the essay on how he dislikes music played in stereo rather than with a single speaker. I swear, he's the only person I've known who dislikes stereo. I own the Satanic Bible and have read it many times, despite being scared of it when I first bought it. Of all the books Anton wrote, I would give this one to people who are interested in Satanism but don't know where to start.

Here LaVey offers his opinions on a wide variety of subjects including social politics, sex, personal hygiene, social conventions, and life in general. Here he presents his opinions often with tongue in cheek humor. Some of his essays are utterly hilarious. Yet, he is often quite serious.LaVey hated pompousness, arrogance, and self righteousness and all throughout his writings he rips into these with a visciousness and rage that could only come from the devil. Having a high opinion of oneself is one thing, but that form of counterproductive, haughty self righteousness was what he hated most, what he called "The Goodguy Badge."His essay on stereo was interesting, "Stereo, Scam of the Century." When you read this essay, you might find yourself saying, "Hey, he's got a point." They introduced stereo not to improve the quality of music, but just to sell more record players and playing systems. And how many people really know the difference between a stereo recording and a mono recording of a piece of music anyway? Most of the time they are standing or sitting too far away from the speakers and not between them to even notice the difference.I myself prefer stereo since I usually do actually sit between the speakers. But I am quite different from most people. And sometimes I have actually noticed that some music really does sound better in mono than in stereo because the sound actually does tend to blend together.Reading and laughing at his essays, I often think, "He's got a point. I've seen that myself."Agree with his opinions or disagree, you will have fun reading this book, and learn a few things from an old carny.

It's pretty obvious that Anton LaVey is a genius. If you read his essays he basically solves all of the problems that no one could ever figure out and he explains things in a way that even slightly intelligent people can understand. One essay in particular explains how some of the most ridiculously behaved people's behavior can be explained by something like itchy skin, and he does it by examining a Tasmanian Devil. You seriously wish you were as awesome as he was way before you were conceived. If you read this book you deserve a thumbs up.

This book is profoundly disappointing. I was expecting some kind of interesting or challenging ideas from the essays in this book but LaVey sounds like someone's lonely, doddering grandpa who wants the kids these days to know about his opinions on mundane topics. I'm sure this book comes highly recommended from all of his friends at the senior center but it just isn't worth the money.

I am not a Satanist. LaVeyen satanism requires putting ones self above all else, which I cannot do. That being said, LaVey writes well and makes many good points. He was a rebel dedicated to the non-popular, against fleeting fads, and exercises the importance of the individual. He writes with humor, sarcasm and represents the views of the disenfranchised.

Some times he makes sense, sometimes he doesn't...sometimes he's really showing his age and times he comes from, sometimes he's forward thinking. He isn't necessarily "Satanic" in my opinion (but neither am I), but I always enjoy reading what went on in this man's mind.

This book by Laure Paillex has very nice floral designs and I use it more as a reference. She discusses sketching,composition how to take photos, color theory. She goes into depth about how to design floral paintings, which is what the book is about. This is a book I downloaded into my kindle books I would much have rather gotten the book delivered instead.

Haven't had a chance to use it yet put I was pleased with the information and graphics

I purchased one of these for a gift. When it came, I knew I had to have one for myself. And even more wonderful is that the illustrations for acrylic can easily be used for colored pencil, pastels - Well most any artistic media

Great for law students, lawyers, judges, paralegals/legal assistants, and just about anyone else dealing with legal language. This book gives alternatives to stilted, overused, and misused, language. Worth the price (especially if one compare it on a site like Nextag, Shopzilla, and others).

A must-have for the lawyer who is always looking for the perfect word or phrase. I pull this out all the time for motion practice, but it has really been key for some Federal Circuit briefs. I've never quite figured out why the index is half the book, and what the difference is from the "thesaurus" part, but it's all good. I bought a used copy in great condition, and wonder why someone would give this up!

If you are an attorney, a writer, or simply a person that likes to have reference materiel on demand, this tome is an absolute must. I'm sorry I was not aware of it before, as it would have proven supremely useful to my law practice, especially while drafting motions and briefs.

Just want to say ... buying and getting this to a prison inmate was a success. He received the book and as far as I know it was in great condition..he didnt say anything about it being used. So assume it was in new condition. I am just glad I found a place I can send books to at prison with low cost. Will be certainly buying more. He is reading it page by page. Expect him out soon and his plans are to get into paralegal. Said book is just what he needed! thank you

I have found this to be a good reference, especially since I'm studying to be a paralegal. The study course does not have a class dedicated to legal terminology, and it can be quiet confusing. The thesaurus helps with making definitions clear.
