Well, I just couldn't write a review for one Dark Widow' s Secret because I had to keep reading the next book Dark Widow's Curse. These stories are just that good that you don't want to stop reading till the series is done. Unfortunately I can't read the third book as it's not available yet. These stories of the immortal people are just so compelling you find yourself wishing you were a dormant so a handsome muscular man will turn you into an immortal. If only! So if you want to immerse yourself into a great world where the people are real and complex and they will never age or die you need to start at the very beginning of I.T.Lucas 's immortal series. You won't regret it. You will be transported to an immortal view. Have fun! I did.
I love Magnus’ and Vivian’s story. They finally confess their love for each other. I can’t wait to see if Vivian and her family are all dormants. I feel so sad for Ella’s situation and at the same time feel bad for this villain. Dimitri Gorchenco is a little twisted for what he is doing to Ella, but at the same time he is a gentleman. He is a bad guy and a good guy. All of his employees love him for the way he treats them and takes care of them. And Ella is being treated like a princess but at the same time she has no choice and has to do what she is told. What scared me the most in this story was Logan, he is a Doomer and peeked into her thoughts and memories telepathically. What did he actually learn by doing this? Did he put two and two together and knows about the clan’s locations at the keep and the village? Is the clan in danger? Is there going to be a war and clan members die? I’m so afraid of where this all could lead to. On the other hand, will the clan learn about the Island’s location and raid it? Again, I am afraid of the loss of lives. You know at some point the Doomers have to be defeated, but at what cost? This isn’t over yet, I believe there are books to come which will address all these issues. I can’t wait to read all about it. This has been the best series I’ve ever read. There’s so much going on. As always, I can’t wait for the next book. I highly recommend this series. 💕 💕 💕
First there will be Spoilers in this review but please read at least the first sentence.Now, for the review.There should have been a trigger warning at the beginning of the book. While the rape scene was not described the aftermath and conversation can trigger someone who has been through a rape.The story is about the girl’s mother but with the telepathic connection she has with her daughter there is quite a bit of the daughter and her situation in the book. The main problem I have with the book has nothing to do with Vivian(the mom) and Magnus but rather how Ella(the daughter) is acting and talking about her rape. She says things like “he was gently and at least I enjoyed itâ€, I am just treating this like an arranged marriage like they used to do, he buys me expensive things, I don’t want him hurt or anyone to be just because of me. To me this is coming off as rape shaming (like she deserved it because of how she was dressed). The rapist got her stoned to relax her and then proceeds to tell her he is going to get her pregnant despite her not wanting that. He dresses her like he wants and she had NO option to say no. The ideas and thoughts she has justifying the rape is disgusting and I honestly don’t know if I can finish this trilogy or read anything else from this author. I feel the story is in poor taste considering how theâ€me too†movement, the recent allegations against Brett M. Kavanagh and the grab her by the pu@@y our President said. Ella seems to be justifying her situation and defending her rapist and while the author may be going for Stockholm syndrome, but given that thus far no death threats towards her or any physical abuse besides the rape have occurred. Also with the telepathic contact with her mother she knows a rescue is in progress, which should allow her to act “submissive†to her captor but maintain a disdain or dislike for her captor.I would like to say that I will finish the story as I really like Magnus and Vivian but the situation with Ella and her attitude towards her captor honestly makes me physically ill. I would like to think that when they had dinner with “Logan†her was able to thrall her into compliance and adjust her feelings toward her captor and that is why she is feeling the way she does or he took her and is still thralling her so that she can get her mother to send help to her and he can capture the rescuers. I almost feel like this had to be a ghost writer because of how Carol reacted under similar conditions.I am not saying that woman who develop feelings for their rapist or captors are in the wrong, I am just saying that it shouldn’t be used as a storyline/plot for a romance book. It should be taken seriously and the woman who live through it should not have to read something like this that can trigger them or make them again feel like they may have deserved it or that they handled a similar situation incorrectly because of a story that you read that is supposed to make you HAPPY not disgusted.
I love how the characters interact with those from other books in other series. Makes it so much more real. I am now anxiously waiting for "Dark Widow's Blessing ". I hate waiting. I. T. Lucas is the best author in a olong while. There is actually " meat on the bone" to her stories. I can't put the book down once I start readingi read the review about how the person felt the rape was handled wrong. I didn't agree. Given the situation, you handle it in the way you must to survive. For her this works mentally and physically. I agree completely. I don't think she feels dirty like she could and he seems to really have feelings for her. People don't have to be 100 percent bad. Get into the story and be the character.
This is one of the best paranormal series being written. I just finished # 24 and can't wait for #25. I loved getting to know Magnus and Vivian and looking forward to their conclusion and the beginning of Julian and Ella. I have read them all and also have the audio version on most. If you like paranormal, action, intrigue, hot sex and love stories you will love this series.
I truly can not get enough! This series is amazing. I don’t see how I. T. Lucas makes all of these books so individualized. Is it possible to love somebody you don’t know and have never met simply because they bring you so much joy? It makes me happy to think that this series will NEVER end.
Very serious subject, human trafficking. It was sad to read about Ella's first sexual experience, but thankful he was gentle with her. Vivian and Magnus's story is evolving very nicely. Truly have no idea how this will conclude, which is the fun in reading it!
Dark widows curse book 2 is very enjoyable read,love getting to know new charactors in this book and catching up with past book charactors like catching up with family,looking forward to next in series so love children of the gods.
