We are planning a sailing trip in the Spanish Virgin Islands this Thanksgiving week, and this guide has been very useful in getting to know the area, the attractions, and local services such as restaurants, bars, hotels, etc. The charts will also be useful in navigating the small islands and inlets in the area.

Very organized. I was just on a quick trip to San Juan but I liked how it broke it out by what to do on Day 1, 2, 3, etc. Great recommendations, especially Mallorca and Mallorquina. I would give it 5 stars, but 2 or 3 of the restaurant recommendations are now closed.

Just what I needed/expected.

I purchased the kindle version and though it has great information the maps are low-res. So when you enlarge them for a better view all you see is a pixelated fuzzy mess. The maps were one of the main reasons for purchasing the book. So my advice, buy the actual book and pass on the kindle version.

This travel guide made our trip to San Juan so easy to plan. It's very well researched and full of and helpful suggestions, tips and tidbits. I really also enjoyed all the photos and sidebars. It was the perfect travel companion on our trip with a good mix of the major attractions and the more obscure gems we wouldn't have known about otherwise. So much to do in San Juan, we're looking forward to going back to check out some of the things we didn't have time for on the last trip.

A while back I watched a televised broadcast of Lisa Scottoline speaking in a Norcross GA branch of Gwinnett County Public Library system when she was on a book tour. When I'm interested in an author I like to read their books in chronological order. I feel like I'm honoring their professional development/process.This book was published in 1994 and definitely took me back 20+ years. We now have Lexis subscriptions on our phones, not just in research rooms in our law firm's library. Also, I'm grateful that she included reference to practicing safe sex and that we have seen a decrease in the HIV/AIDS mortality rate that peaked in 1995.I am looking forward to reading her next fiction book but am considering skipping to the next in her Rosato & Associates series. Thank you Lisa Scottoline for your great work!!!!

So is she imagining the menace that seems to be hovering over her?But her best friend and co-associate at the firm, Judy Carrier, does not think so. Between the two of them, they start to piece together the clues. And then a second hit and run death leads Mary and Judy to believe that there might be a connection between the "accidents."Everything ratchets up a few notches as various possible suspects come to mind. Could it be someone at the firm? A jealous associate? Or possibly a rejected suitor?Everywhere That Mary Went (Rosato & Associates Book 1) was a page-turning thriller that had me guessing until the very end. I trusted none of the possible suspects, but I was blindsided by the identity of the perpetrator. And in between the mysterious events, there was a lot of fun dialogue and charming episodes with Mary's Italian family. I have read and enjoyed other books in this series, but it was delightful to read this one that introduces the main characters. Four stars.

This is the first in the Rosato series .... many years old .... but I don't know this character. But I did really like her. This is from 1999, and it really defines how much things have changed in the world ... no cell phones .... lots of faxes .... a whole old world. But this was a fun and easy read .... a lot of excitement ... good character development and lots of opportunity for future stories which I already have cued up. Also no language or sultry sex .... not that either bother me .... just another sign of the times.

Some action inserted into this story didn't have much to do with the story line and almost skipped some pages. Also there was many religious parts. Mary DiNunzio trying to make partner, surrounded with loving family, friend and secretary. She misses her twin sister, who decided to become nun. Conversations between the two sisters about their life choices was the best part of this book.Somebody has been following her and sending notes, ending was shocking.

That is exactly what I felt upon discovering "whodunnit" in this second book of Lisa Scottoline's that I read. The characters are well developed; Mary's parents and sister could be my friends. Mary herself changes as the story moves on, thank goodness. She returns to be the strong woman who knows what she wants. I gave Mary's book four stars, instead of five, because it needed more humor and fear for the reader. I'm reading all of Lisa's books in order, after discovering Running From the Law (one of her standalone books).

I have been reading and recommending Scottoline for a while now, both her standalone and series. Have enjoyed them all!Mary feels that someone is watching her and not in a good way. Her friends want her to call the police but she concerned about her position at the firm. Can you guess who it is? I couldn't.Loss, love, fear, friendship but standing up and being brave is important too.

Excellent and riveting. The story is well told and the humor is good. The main character becomes so familiar and her motives, weaknesses, strengths, and attributes are so well developed though humor and flashbacks. I enjoyed her Italian parents and typical background, all of which was similar to my own life and era. The plot has many twists and turns and. The end is a surprise. I really enjoyed this book and the author's writing style. She has such good insight. I think if a reader is in the field of litigation law, the book would be even more interesting, though my lack of familiarity in the field of law did not hamper my understanding and enjoyment.

I just finished reading the book! It was a quick read and I liked how you explained the concepts with examples. It got me thinking of where and what I want to do because I’m at a transitional phase in my career. I know I want to experience Pharma industry and the later part of the book is making think of how I am going to achieve that. I will have to go back and write some of the questions and honestly answer them or find answers to. Honestly the hardest part for me finding my passion or what I am good at. I was happy and content (that a great relationship with patients and my staff) in my previous job but was getting an underlying itch to try something different. I think this a great start of someone who is looking for a new start or someone wanting to bring purpose to their lives. The practical questions you ask the reader to think about gets one thinking. Could I be happier doing something else?Definitely think it’s a wonderful start for someone who is lost in their pharmacy career ( as many of us do get handcuffed to the salary because of our lifestyles).

The tips on how to evaluate strengths, and use them to increase job satisfaction, were most valuable to me. I think everyone could use some advice to inspire improvement in their careers. I also enjoyed Alex's advice on career transition, it's a brave thing to move out of a career that took so much time and effort to get in to.There are a few typos, but they don't interfere with the overall message. Definitely worth a read for the burnt-out pharmacist. If you are a spouse, friend, good acquaintance of a stressed pharmacist, get them this book.

I am a CAD designer for a sportswear company and I work with illustrator and photoshop every day.I found the book very helpful in my work.It is good for reviewing applications as well as applying new ones. Everything is explained well and beautifully illustrated. My work has improved. A colleague at work also bought the book and is pleased with the results. I am very happy I bought the book and highly recommend it.

I am so happy I invested in this book!After 30 years in the fashion industry, I am finally required to use Illustrator for my job. I started teaching myself using another book of tutorials soI know basic flat technical sketching but I get stuck on some techniques. This book explains so many things in very easy to understand and to followsteps. I am working with a new fashion school grad and she is amazed with this book as well.

If you work this book all the way through, you will have a nice library of symbols, patterns, and know-how to create just about anything fashion oriented in illustrator. This was my second illustrator book for fashion, and I learned much more in this than the other one.

What is a repeat boundary box?!?!?! The authors keep using this term but I do not see where they define it or show its location, and therefore cannot do any of the stitches!!! It is not a bounding box.Useless!!!

If you are a fashion professional who wants to learn how to use Illustrator this is the book to get! What I enjoyed the most is that this book teaches real world skills that you would need to know in the workplace not fluff that you wouldn't use.

Still a work in progress getting through this information not just because I am self teaching but my job and family life as well. Great book for those who are looking for help with Illustrator in the fashion area. Book did not come with a CD.

this book is great for the adobe illustrator computer program. it helps you work the program and do fashion designs on the computer. trade sketching is easyer on the computer. everything is in line and perfect.

This is a great physiology textbook! I'm a little over 100 pages in and thought I would leave my thoughts and findings so far. The full online version of the book and resources are included for free! Sixteen video animations, multiple choice questions on each unit of the book, and 25 enhanced images where you can quickly hide the labels, quiz yourself, and then click to see the correct label are all part of the online version resources. There are no quizzes or questions at the end of each unit in the physical print edition (I think the Guyton and Hall Physiology Review 3e is geared toward this aspect). The general layout of the textbook is two columns of text per page with many figures and tables interwoven. The font of the text is clear and easy to read. The text guides you through the figures and explains them well as it is teaching the subject making for a far better learning experience than others where they just have a description underneath the figure (in this textbook there is also a very brief description under the figure but mainly is described in the main part as you are reading). There are mini bibliographies at the end of each unit allowing you to know where you might start to further dive into that topic and read some of the current research papers. Modern research and findings have been seamlessly incorporated. My mom kept asking me for birthday gift ideas and when I mention a textbook she says “well that doesn’t sound like a fun gift.” She eventually just sent me a gift card for amazon and this was my birthday present that I picked- (vitamins being the other.) I guess it could seem lame but I have to stay smart and healthy working in the ER so I can take care of the interesting people in this world. I bought the pocket guide to this text a while back at a used book store. The pocket guide refers to the text often if the reader is seeking more detail on the subject. I liked it so much I bought a textbook I don’t even need so I could read more. I am a nurse and this is a book for MED students but patho is patho. I am a firm believer that a solid understanding of the pathophysiology is necessary to truly comprehend why you’re providing the care you are for a patient. It also helps to be able to teach your patients. I started reading about alcoholism and pancreatitis and I was hooked ! Maybe now that I can take time to asorb the material (and not cramming and memorizing for an exam) I am enjoying learning a bit more. I was very happy to find this book and I will continue to refer to it. Study to save lives ! I would recommend this as well as the pocket guide. Bookshelf staple :)

This was the text we used in medical school some 28 years ago for our physiology classes. Call me a nerd, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this beautiful book, which explains so much about the function of the human body in such an approachable and interesting manner. Although I studied it to learn critical information and to prepare for tests, I also read Guyton's just for the sheer joy of acquiring knowledge. Feeling the need to brush up on my understanding of physiology after so many years, I bought this updated version of Guyton's and started reading. The book is still as approachable and easy to follow now as it was in 1990, and the old joy of learning for learning's sake is back. I highly recommend this book for all medical professionals treating patients in every medical discipline. The information is timeless and essential, and is written to be easily understood by virtually any medical professional.

I used this book as a first year medical school student. It was great! It contains a lot of information so it is difficult to read everything during the ridiculously paced medical school curriculum. However, if you really want to understand the concepts and not just memorize facts, this book is the one to use. Costanzo is ok. But I frequently found myself reading Costanzo to try to save time, but in the end I had to come back to Guyton because it did a better job of explaining the details.

Always enjoyed this textbook and organization. It is very helpful for understanding physiology with applications.For those with limited anatomy background, have any general A&P text, such as Marieb or Salladin, for the fundamentals, and then use this text to move forward to ensure a solid understanding of the material, for success.

Very good update on a standard medical physiology textbook. Graphics have been updated compared to previous editions. I really like the "Student Consult" online service!

While everyone thinks Guyton is very lengthy and very annoying, it’s my favorite textbook. At least I understand what I’m reading/studying. I’m a slow learner and Guyton shows such motherly affection, teaching everything in a slow, understandable fashion. It uses easy words and is quite repetitive which means the concepts get pretty much carved into your minds. It’s very time consuming though.

Without an intimate knowledge of all aspects of physiology, disease mechanisms can never be fully understood and pharmacology becomes rote memorization, rather than the art of fine tuning the target system back to its normal physiologic state. Without physiology there is no medicine.Guyton's textbook is an extremely important tool in understanding physiology.
