I got this to entertain my niece during a recent visit. I was worried when she was perusing it and asked me within a few minutes what "The Twist" is. As in the dance that most 8-year-olds aren't overly familiar with. I was concerned it may have too many old fashioned terms and concepts but that was more of an aberration than the standard. After that brief question and explanation, she was off to a flying start and I think nearly completed the book over the weekend. It went to church with her and kept her attention longer than I expected--she is an avid reader--but because there were so many other distractions available at my house. I looked over her shoulder and was charmed to see some of her answers on other pages. I learned a few quirky things about her personal tastes. I advised her to save it on her shelf and then review it in 10 years to see how her tastes may have changed. A fun way for a girl to learn herself and create a time capsule of sorts of her tastes and personality at a time in her life.

My 13 year old 8th grader is an avid reader. Here is her review:--- "Would you prefer to be: the life of the party, or a wallflower, or a party crasher? Would you like to see: all the different pets you'll ever have, or all the homes you'll ever live in, or all the homes you'll ever drive? Would you rather: jump in feet-first, do a cannonball, or do a flip? -- Answer these fun questions and many more in this awesome quiz book! It is full of fun "Would You Rather?" type questions to get you thinking. It would be a fun book to do with friends to get to know them better! There is really cute art on every page, too. I really enjoyed the book, and had fun going through it. Personally, I usually prefer quizzes with results that tell you something about yourself from your answers, but this book is just all questions. It might be really fun for an ice-breaker, or at a sleepover, or as writing-prompts for a journal!

As a stand alone book, this is fun, but limited in appeal. It's not really a quiz book, but an extended set of "Would you rathers?" that fall into different categories (food, social preferences, schoolwork, etc.). It's a bit boring to use just by yourself unless you are very self-reflective. It's much better in a group or family setting to really get people talking.I've been using this as a morning meeting prompt in my classroom and my students like the questions. They've prompted some good discussions and made my students think and evaluate. Some of the scenarios are girl specific (my boys aren't into spa day), but there's plenty to use with a mixed group.I'd recommend this to any group leader: teachers, scout leaders, etc. as a fun icebreaker/discussion starter.

My daughter had fun with this quiz book. It has a lot of questions about which of two or more great things would she rather do. Some things she answered immediately, others took a fair amount of thought before she was satisfied with her answer. It has a Table of Contents that sort of organizes the topics, but really it seems to be all over the board from one page to the next. My daughter went through the whole book in a few days. She enjoyed sharing some of the questions with her friends and they had discussions about their different answers. Once she completed the book with all its questions, she put it away. I think it will be fun for her to look back on in the future and she can revisit her answers and see if they differ.

I have looked through the entire book and as an adult cannot quite see what is so fantastic about it. The kids though, disagree. I'm rating it based on the intended user. I think it is most appropriate for 9-12 age group based on the content, although there is something in there for everyone. I don't think that everything is for everyone, nor does it appeal to younger siblings or boys interests. It does keep the conversations interesting and broaden the usual topics that are generally covered with a group of young girls.

So this one got an okay from us.The resident tween liked it at first, but eventually got a bit bored, finding that the quizzed were more self reflection and less fun.I think she wanted things a bit more like the quizzed you see online - where in the end you get an answer saying that you're an adventuress or a unicorn or even a rainbow platypus. The questions can be used nicely as icebreakers - just don't expect her to pore over the book for long.

My girls have been a fan of the American Girl book series for many years. They were excited to see the company was releasing a new series of interactive quiz books. These are a great tools to use in family time to learn more about each other. We think they would be a great activity at a sleepover as well. We will be on the look out for all of the other books in the series as well.

My twelve year old daughter really likes this book. I thought it was strange that it is just a book of questions. These aren’t magazine style quizzes. Just questions. They can be interesting conversation starters. My daughter really enjoyed the book. She liked the questions.
