Extremely valuable for both pulmonologists and intensivists of all stages (from trainees to experienced physicians). I am a junior faculty member and since receiving this book one week ago, I have used it almost every day. The chapters focus on nearly all major pulmonary and critical care topics, and are very easy to read and comprehensive. In fact, I have found this book easier to read and understand than nearly all other PCCM resources available.Aspects that I love so far (after my first week of owning this book):- Bulleted insights and information mixed in with algorithmic approaches to various topics- A conversational tone which makes the reader feel as if they are on rounds with a master clinician- The book is small enough in size to easy carry in your bag or in a large coat pocket.- The pictures really hit home certain key concepts5/5 stars and HIGHLY recommend to all physicians looking for a good resource on pulmonary and critical care medicine!

The many spelling and editing errors in the Inkling ebook are unforgivable (but correctable). I am looking forward to the updates. It's more than a year after publication and they still haven't been corrected? Doesn't the author have a smidge of vanity?Also, while the pulmonary part is excellent, some of the stuff in the critical care chapters seem taken out of a 1990s book (up to 6L of fluids in sepsis, dopamine for septic cardiomyopathy etc.). I will keep the book for its pulmonary insights (I am a surgical intensivist), but I would caution trainees to doublecheck the critical care contents before applying them blindly.

Practical, extremely high-yield, and appropriate/relevant for a wide audience - from med students to attending physicians, from NP/PAs to RTs. Great presentation of topics with bulleted points, algorithms, and imaging and clinical cases that drive home the intended teaching points. Clearly written by a master clinician with an engaging style and overflowing with teaching pearls, I found reading this manual to be very unique from other textbooks and literature in the field. The size of the book, which fits easily into your coat pocket, reemphasizes that this manual is extremely usable and is intended to be applicable to your day-to-day practice. Well done.

This is an excellent resource for clinically relevant topics in critical care and pulmonary medicine. It is concise, easy to read and emphasizes on the key points that is helpful in day-to-day practice; and also covers topics that may not be as commonly encountered but definitely helpful to have a refresher nearby . Worth the investment!!

This is an excellent, clinically-focused guide to pulmonary and intensive care medicine. Covers all the basics with abundant high-quality illustrative figures and cases. Great for the intended audience of house-staff, med students, NP/PA, ICU RNs, RTs firming up their ICU knowledge. The author describes this as a readable description of all the things he wishes he knew when he was a younger doctor, and I think that theme shines through. The pearls that he describes come from experience, and are very practical/actionable to your practice. Does not dwell excessively on critical-care literature and evidenced-based medicine in critical care, which is not to say that it is not evidence based. Instead of debating subtitles of trial design and controversies in critical care, this book focuses on simpler questions of what do do with the patient in front of you. The gist of this book is the answer to the question: "If I had 20 years of experience in the ICU, how would I approach this common problem".I enjoyed:case based presentation with wonderful figuresthe best focused ICU chest radiology review I have foundsmall form-factor (lab coat pocket sized) for quick referenceenjoyed it equally to Marin's classic "the ICU book". Landsberg's work is much superior to the Washington manual of critical care and various other critical care guides on the market. would strongly recommend to ICU health care team members and students.

I work in both the ED and ICU and find this to be an outstanding book that covers what providers need to know. The book contains lots of pearls and addresses many misconceptions that have made it into routine practice. Dr Landsberg has done a phenomenal job making complex topics simple, understandable, and translatable to the bedside. Highly recommend this to anyone working in either the ICU or ED as required reading!

I agree with Dr. Rogers that this book is an invaluable reference for the psychologist or other mental health professional who seeks a comprehensive yet succinct text to help interpret MMPI-2 profiles. Some of the characteristics of the book I particularly like are:* Very well researched with up-to-date references to the studies that support the author's statements.* Very well-written and easy to follow yet sophisticated in its language and articulation of often complex interpretive issues.* Frequent descriptions of the heterogeneity or homogeneity of individual scales and subscales, which is crucial to understanding how to best interpret scores. In a similar vein, the author also frequently calls attention to the correlation between subscales, which also is important to help aid interpretation.* The "Rapid Reference" boxes provide a nice overview of important features of a scale.* Providing the following for every scale: Presenting Problem, Symptomatic Pattern, Interpersonal Relations, Behavioral Stability, Defenses, History, Diagnostic Considerations, and Treatment Considerations.Although I too like to have the classics (e.g., Greene, Graham) available, if I had to choose only one MMPI-2 interpretive text it would be Essentials of MMPI-2 Assessment.

David Nichols provides detailed, easy-to-understand guidance for assessing psychopathology and personality using the MMPI-2. As a graduate student in clinical psychology, I found this book extremely helpful in evaluating MMPI-2 profiles. The book we are using in my Assessment of Personality course - Newmarks' Major Psychological Assessment Instruments, was simply too dry and academic. I purchased Essentials to help me understand the powerful MMPI-2. It worked! In class, when called upon to provide my own assessment of MMPI-2 profiles, I was able to quickly make sound judgments. Other students were amazed. In fact, the professor asked: "How did you know that?" When I shared I was using Nichols' book, he exclaimed; "That explains it. That book is excellent."Essentials includes far greater detail on potential 2, 3, and 4 code profiles. In addition, it includes insight into the history, treatment and prognosis of individuals with various clinical scale, validity scale, and profile code scores. It also includes detailed information on the clinical and normal groups and validation stragy used for each scale. Many tables also provide quick references for later use.

I love this series. They're very helpful for assessments. Required reading for graduate courses and I'm so glad they were because they're a great companion.

ClAssic text! Difficult at first but once you understand the format it is amazing .aligned with the dsm5

First class work with in depth look at the clinical scales, and all the other scales and interpretations of the various combinations. If a person wasn't in the mental health profession, however, it would not be an easy or appealing book. But for those who administer and interpret the MMPI-2 it is of much benefit. Congratulations to Dr. David Nichols.

I purchased this book to learn more about the MMPI lie scale. Although I know more than I did before, Nichols doesn't go into the adequate detail.

It is a great learning tool!!! Vida

I thought the book was well written and the author obviously has an extensive background in food science. In a nutshell - her eating plan is high protein, low carb, moderate fat. No gluten, no dairy, no sugar, no soy, no processed food. Her philosophy is that in order to keep blood sugar levels stable throughout the day, she recommendeds 3 meals per day and ideally no snacks. Each meal contains a "Fab Four" ingredient- protein, fat, fiber and greens. Fruit is limited to 1/4-1/2 cup of berries per day. All other fruits may be eaten once or twice a week. - again only a very small portion of 1/2 cup or less. Grains are limited to gluten free and only 1/4 - 1/2 cup per day at most. Breakfast is essentially a protein shake made with water or nut milk with the addition of 1-2 Tbsps of fat (MCT oil, coconut oil, nuts or avocado), and 1-2 Tbsps of fiber (chia seeds, flax, avocado), and a handful of greens such as spinach.Will you lose weight, feel good, and be healthy eating like this? Yes - most likely! However, it is pretty restrictive and requires a lot of discipline.

The book as a whole was OK. It was a bit repetitive...alright, it was a lot repetitive. I think the entire book could have been summed up in an article, not so much an entire book. I ended up skipping paragraphs and certain pages here and there just to get through it all. I did, however, really enjoy the science aspect of knowing how the body reacts to certain foods. I’m intrigued to see if the “Fab Four” smoothies really work as well as she constantly insists they will. Wish me luck!

Stop counting calories and read this book. All I have done is used her formula for a balanced meal and incorporated her smoothies for my breakfast and I have never felt better and I have lost 17 lbs in 3 weeks. I am satisfied with my meals. I don't feel like I'm dieting (because I am not) and it was easy. The book itself is very technical but taking the time to read and understand it was totally worth it. This book combine with kitchen matters, whole30 and primal kitchen have helped pave the way with easy, delicious meals. With the investment. I have been able to totally reprogram my body. Saying no to pizza is easy because I don't want it anymore! If you are looking for a game changer. This is it.

So I will update this review, but I have to say I am so thrilled I found this book.Due to a lot of stressful and traumatic life events my weight has been up and down the past 2 years due to stress eating tons of sugar. I found the Whole30 (which I still think is great) which has helped to reset me in the past. However, I haven't been able to successfully recommit to a whole30 despite numerous efforts due to how restrictive it is. So I tried weight watchers which hasn't helped because I'm just too hungry and stressing over every point I'm using. I'd then feel deprived and overeat.Finally this is something that meets halfway. It provides guidelines for how to eat. She discusses smoothies a lot, but this isn't your only option. The smoothie is simply a shortcut and since I don't have quick healthy food options in my neighborhood, this is a great alternative. She promises that you won't feel hungry.Today is my first day drinking a Fab Four smoothie for breakfast. I drank it around 6:30 this morning and 3 hours later I'm genuinely not hungry. Normally I'd start to feel hungry not long after breakfast and need a snack. I'm hoping to make it until noon for lunch. Kelly says meals should keep you satisfied for 4-6 hours.I will update this as the week progresses and see how my weight changes. So excited!Unfortunately after two weeks of drinking these smoothies every day, I'm not really losing any weight. I was super excited for that to happen but it's not. So I guess I will have to find something else 😥

The idea of this book is very good but it is chaotic and difficult to follow. The teenage "Hey, Girlfriend!" language in the book was a bit off-putting. As I said, some good ideas and advice for healthy eating but it needs to be presented in a more organized manner.

Love the book! Debating buying the hard copy. I've already made several smoothies and can't believe how full they actually keep me!

This book is great. I have been eating how the book describes for about a week. I have truly started to feel better. My gut is happy as well as my blood pressure. I need to lose a lot of weight, but my biggest concern is to get healthy. But, with that said, I have lost 5 pounds this week. Thank you for a great book.

Fantastic ideas for all those old sweaters your not wearing but holding onto because they're pretty. Or way to use ones from garage, lawn, porch, estate sales or thrift shops. Remake something new from something old-then sell it!

The book is nicely laid out and the pictures are great. Some of the patterns are lame, in my opinion.Some of the directions (and I haven't read them all!) are a bit vague but can probably be figured out. For ex, dog coat refers to the "width of the arm holes". What???

Most of the projects in this book are not things I would find useful or appealing. The actual designs are not of my taste, but I think I may be able to adapt an idea or two so it's not a complete loss.

I was looking for ways to us old sweaters. It has alot of good ideas and instructions to go with. A good book.

This book was disappointing. The only project I thought was "handmade" looking and not "home made" looking was the one on the cover (which enticed me to purchase this book) I thought it looked like elementary school projects.

This book is great for beginners who crochet or knit but want to recycle old wool sweaters by turning them into felt and making them into something else.However for those of us who don't crochet or knit it is somewhat of a bummer.Many cute items with crochet added, but I for one do NOT knit or crochet and have NO desire to do such. So for those of you who want to do both this is the book for you.Nice photos and colorful.

I'm just beginning my "felting book" collection, and this is a nice addition. Aside from my box of old sweaters from the thrift shops, I've moved to Florida and am tired of protecting my own sweaters from the heat, humidity, and dreaded moths so prevalent here. If I'm not going to wear them, I may as well make something useful out of them. My favorite chapter in this book was on knitting needle holders. The author is very creative, writes well, and the photographs, though not the brilliant, shiny stuff from those Stampington magazines, are good enough, and you definitely get the idea of how her creations look when complete. I gave a copy of this book to every student in my Fiber and Textile class at our homeschool co-op. They are 6 to 15 years old and really seem to enjoy it. My hope was to inspire them to continue sewing and looking for "found materials" instead of feeling discouraged over the cost of purchasing supplies.Sweater Renewal walks the reader through the steps of choosing materials, felting in a washing mashine, basic patterns, stitches, and a wide variety of project ideas.Every week I see students who are excited to show off the pieces they are working on (even though our class ended last semester). What's better than that?
